What is Examine?

Last updated on 16 Feb, 2026

Examine helps you make sense of nutrition, supplements, and health research—without hype, ads, or hidden agendas.

Everything on Examine is:

  • Based on randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses

  • Written and reviewed by a research team

  • Free from sponsorships and affiliate bias

  • Supported entirely by readers

Examine doesn’t give medical advice or personalized recommendations. Instead, it shows you what the evidence says, how strong that evidence is, and where the uncertainty lies.

Our Story

Examine was founded by two guys frustrated by the lack of reliable information on supplements and nutrition information. They wanted a science-based, unbiased resource to navigate health and wellness. Tired of misleading claims and magic cures, they built Examine to analyze all the evidence and provide honest, actionable advice. Their personal journeys with health fueled their passion to create a trusted resource for everyone.

Our Team

Our interdisciplinary team includes more than 30 experts trained in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, nutrition, exercise science, biomedical research, biostatistics, physiology, engineering, and related fields.

To ensure independence, every team member is contractually required to have no industry ties.

We evaluate new research daily and translate it into clear, objective Study Summaries. Those findings are continuously integrated into the Examine Database, which powers our Supplement Guides and clinical tools — including the Safety Checker, Handouts Builder, and Protocol Builder — helping health professionals apply evidence with confidence.

Meet the team.

No sponsors. No ads. No bias. 100% reader-supported.

Examine is an entirely independent organization, and does not accept any money from outside sources. For the vast majority of nutrition websites, revenue is directly proportional to pageviews or products sold — whether they be supplement bottles or diet plans. Thus, rather than an evenhanded and thorough interpretation of the evidence, for many websites, sensationalism sells (read more on sensationalism).

Instead, 100% of our revenue is generated from additional research syntheses that we sell to both health professionals and laypeople: Examine+. Most of the information on the website is freely accessible; these additional informational products are meant for those looking for added depth and step-by-step instructions.

We do not allow:

  • Donors

  • Sponsors

  • Consulting clients

  • Advertisements

  • Affiliations

  • Gifts

We have a very strict no-gift policy for our staff members. Even books that are sent our way are simply deposited into recycling.
